Membership information from the SFC Bylaws:
Application for membership
2.1 A person may apply to the Board for membership in the Society, and the person becomes a member on the Board’s acceptance of the application and the accompanying application fee.
2.2 Subject to 2.4, a person may apply to be either:
a) a Regular Member,
b) an Associate Member
c) a Youth Member, or
d) a Corporate Member
2.3 At a general meeting by ordinary resolution, the members may appoint a person as an Honorary Member or a Life Member
Classification of Membership
2.4 Membership shall include the following classes:
a) Regular Member who
(i) must maintain his or her Principal Residence within the District of Squamish, Resort Municipality of Whistler, Village of Lions Bay, Electoral Area D of the Squamish Lillooet Regional District, or
(ii) is an individual that became a voting member prior to October 19, 2018 and has maintained that membership uninterrupted.
b) Associate Member who may be any person
c) Life Member who may be a regular member who has held continuous membership for more than 25 years
d) Corporate Member who is an incorporation in British Columbia
e) Honorary Member who may be any person
f) Youth Member who must maintain his or her Principal Residence within the District of Squamish, Resort Municipality of Whistler, or Electoral Area D of the Squamish Lillooet Regional District
Duties of members
2.5 Every member must uphold the constitution of the Society and must comply with these Bylaws and any Society rules established by the Board.
Amount of membership dues
2.6 The amount of the annual membership dues, if any, must be determined by the Board. (As of May 1 2019 the current fees are $100 initiation fee and $75/year.)
Member not in good standing
2.7 A member is not in good standing if the member fails to pay the member’s annual membership dues, if any, and the member is not in good standing for so long as those dues remain unpaid.
2.8 A member is not in good standing if the member fails to comply with the bylaws and rules of the Society and is designated as not in good standing by a majority vote of the Board
Member not in good standing may not vote
2.9 A voting member who is not in good standing
(a) may not vote at a general meeting, and
(b) is deemed not to be a voting member for the purpose of consenting to a resolution of the voting members.
Termination of membership if member not in good standing
2.10 A person’s membership in the Society is terminated if the person is not in good standing for 3 consecutive months.
2.11 A member designated not in good standing per 2.8 shall be given an opportunity to be heard prior to 3 months duration from designation
